Release Notes 2 - Major new release
Thanks to everyone who has downloaded the game and commented, either by posting video reviews or by simply leaving comments. Your comments and recommendations have allowed me to add further improvements to the game. I have not been able to address them all, but have been able to make some significant progress with the project, which I hope will be evident for those who play the game going forward.
General improvements:
- Completely reworked the title screen including new music.
- Added a loading intro so the game starts and reloads less abruptly.
- Updated the pursuer to appear more threatening and added a death sequence where player falls to the ground. - Added breathing sound effect to make the player sound fearful when being pursued.
- Message and dialogue updates providing more details.
Texture Improvements:
- Complete overhaul of station textures – now improved to make the station appear more abandoned and to be more photorealistic.
- Light models updated.
- Exit train and platforms completely replaced.
- Minor improvements to the payphone and seats.
Game Improvements:
- First Lanes task: if player fails to retrieve the key they will no longer be required to listen to the phone message again but will be able to proceed straight to retrieving the key on reload.
- Second Lanes task: On reload after failing the train redirect puzzle, the player will have a shorter journey to the control room.
- Electric fences no longer kill instantly, but warn the player.
Bugfixes:
- Stopped final section exits spawning in all directions not just the prescribed one.
- Prevent exit doors to next section visibly changing their wall texture during gameplay.
- Mismatch between funds and the fare required when player is collecting money due to floating point number being inexact using integers now.
- Walls were appearing after the first lanes task is completed – ensured clean-up of all wall assets when not being used here.
- Online file transfer puzzles, allowed premature use of back button when compiling this was preventing player from proceeding to the next part of the game. Back button now blocked when compiling is in progress.
